Sewerfest

What the Heck is Sewerfest?

A few years ago, when New Berlin installed a sewer system, RLC didn't have money to pay the assessment. So we put on a festival, used the profits to make the payments, and named it Sewerfest! We even gained national attention one year when Jay Leno mentioned us during his headlines segment on the Tonight Show! When the assessment was paid off, the congregation voted to continue the festival and donate most of the profits to charity and outreach programs. 75% of Sewerfest's profits are divided between our partner church Reformation Lutheran Church to support their ministry, and the Meru Diocese (a mission organization in Tanzania, Africa). We also apply for matching funds from the Southeast Waukesha County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to maximize our fund-raising efforts. The other 25% is used for a special project at RLC - in the past, Sewerfest funds have been used to purchase lighting for the parking lot, tables and chairs for the fellowship hall, to establish a fund for a new sign, to complete the multi-purpose room and more.

Sewerfest 2007 Recap

THANK YOU to everyone who supported Sewerfest on September 30th. Again this year, your generosity was amazing and we reached our financial goal! We raised enough to ensure that our partners would receive the maximum matching funds from the Southeast Waukesha County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans! The Meru money will be used to send children to school who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity! The Reformation money is used for their neighborhood ministries, food pantry, salaries, utilities (to keep their doors open 7 days a week) and all their outreach programs including peer ministry, community bible study, support groups, education night, women's group and more! The RLC money will be used for outdoor projects and maintenance. The money you spent to support Sewerfest literally does a world of good!
