Nurturing Christ's Children: Celebrating the Milestones of Faith

Living Our Mission Statement
This "Milestone Ministry" is about partnering with parents and supporting families in keeping the promises we made at baptism. At key times in a child's life, we invite the family to a learning event, we celebrate the milestone in worship, and there is a "gifting." By including an outreach activity during the learning event and celebrating the milestone during worship, the whole faith community helps to fulfill the promises made at Baptism and helps teach the child to Celebrate God's Grace Through Worship, Nurture and Outreach!

Most learning events have an intergenerational component and will be 1-2 sessions. Sessions will usually last 45-60 minutes and will include hands on activities and time for discussion. A parent or other adult will need to accompany each child to each session. Sessions will typically be schedule on Saturday mornings, Sunday during Sunday School, or a weeknight evening.

For more information, see the Milestone links on the left side of the page.

Sunday School
Resurrection's Sunday School program is held each Sunday immediately after our worship service. Children from the ages of 3 through 6th grade are welcome to participate. This year we are using a "One Room Schoolhouse" format that allows all of the children to learn together. Lessons typically are focused around a bible story and include related activities to reinforce the lesson. Visitors are welcome to participate in an Sunday School activities.

Confirmation Classes
Weekly confirmation classes are held each Wednesday at 5 p.m. for children in grades 7-8. On the 4th Wednesday of each month the students travel to our partner congregation, Reformation Lutheran Church at 35th and Garfield, to participate in their education night activities. Our students typically will meet at Resurrection and carpool together. The classes allow students to interact and share experiences with children of the same age from Reformation.

Adult Education
We also offer Sunday morning adult education classes at 10:30 a.m. during Sunday School. We are currently studying Ending Poverty a 20/20 vision written by Nancy Maeker and Peter Rogness, former bishop of the Greater Milwaukee Synod.

Resurrection members also participate in bible study and educational groups held at Reformation Lutheran Church. Weekly Bible studies are held on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Education Night that includes families and children is held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 (except for the first Wednesday of the month).
